DIY SPA 2

Over the past couple of weeks I've been quite bold. I've just been ignoring my faces' needs, not cleaning it properly and also the weather has gotten colder and stormier and my face has declared WAR and its in a not great way! As a big apology to my poor skin I headed to the kitchen and made not 1, not 2 but THREE DIY skin treatments as I slap myself on the wrist and remind myself my skin aint getting any younger!
Looks good enough to eat...

The first treatment was a lip scrub I made was based on Essie Buttons DIY lip scrub.
My mother bought a tub of coconut oil and used it once so I helped myself to it
The consistency was not what I expected so I had to heat it and then I also added Olive oil to the recipe.
I most definitely did not taste and love it........

I had noticed the sides of my face were getting particularly dry and had no face scrub handy so the next thing I made was the Coconut Oil Lemon and Sugar scrub . Again I heated the coconut oil and added some olive oil. When it was first made I was a bit worried about the consistency but it hardened back up and it smells so good!

I have only in the last few days finished my last Honey, Nutmeg and Cinnamon facemask so I was browsing and saw a Avocado facemask! I figured with all that natural oil and it tasting so yummy there's no way its not gonna be good for my face. I only used half and avocado and then added the other ingredients by eye to get to the consistency needed. I used half the avocado because:
A- with a fresh ingredient like avocado it wont last very long and
B- I like eating em so much I couldnt bear making it all inedible.

I will report back with feelings on them after I've used them a few times. They all look good enough to eat though :)

Show and Tell 1

The first week of January is already over and so far the year has been interesting indeed.
I rang in the New Year in the Nightclub where I work with some champagne with my coworkers, and my New Year kiss (on the cheek) was my first ever crush.....from when I was like 6 yrs old.

That blue dot is my brother
After eating our weight in turkey, ham and other assorted Christmas time goodies and making some resolutions (wearing jewelry and make up more frequently, taking better care of my skin and nails, not eating pasta, reading everyday) The fam and I headed to Mahon falls which is in Co. Waterford about 40 minutes from where I live. I don'k know why its been 23 years to get there. A lot of leaving certificate Geography words such as scree, U shaped Mountain, meanders were all mentioned. It was really fun walking, and climbing up and just being outside. And talk about fresh water :)

So Professional looking

To finish off the lads Christmas holidays the three of us and our cousin went bowling. I was slightly apprehensive about going as my name in secondary school was gutterball because I was just horrendous at the game but I didn't do to bad and we all had a grand aul time at the alley.

Home made Face scrub
Coffee and sugar scrub

I've gone through all my Honey and Sugar scrub (which honestly has done great stuff to my legs and I highly recommend making it) but I wanted to try one with coffee grounds as caffeine is supposed to do wonders with the toxins that build up in the legs. I found the wake me up scrub here but honestly if I was to do it again I would add more sugar and oil and decrease the amount of coffee (I'd maybe do equal parts brown sugar and coffee and use more than also increase the amount of oil) and DO be prepared to wash your shower down a few times. I also wanted to make a face scrub and the oatmeal face scrub appealed to me because of the porridge and also egg is good for shrinking pores, but with the milk and egg it only lasts a few days and does dry out but I just added water. I wasnt sure weather or not it worked well, but in the words of Ingrid AKA missglamourazzi  I had a zombie pimple and the scrub in combination with some sudocream dealt with it! I also thoroughly enjoyed the new episode of Sherlock. All in all not a bad week, start as you mean to go on and all that :)

How was your week???? Did you make any resolutions??

Birthday Spa Evening

It was my Birthday on Wednesday, turned the right old age of 23. Now last year there was a birthday date complete with  Bourbon, Roses, Coffee and Choclate (A lot of my Favourite things) and the year before was my 21st which included two partys drinks and dancing!

This year was far more low key. Seeing as I'm single and living at home, and my birthday was a Wednesday nothing but some cousins coming over for swiss roll was arranged. I did sneak in a Jameson and 7up though (really yummy btw).

That evening though I got a bit mopey, so to snap myself out of it I decided I'd have a spa night and give my hair and body a bit of TLC. Of course this was decided when  all the chemists were closed so i started googling DIY face mask and DIY body scrub and seeing could I make anything from what I already had in the house. I found a lovely sugar olive body scrub here and a cinnamon, nutmeg, honey face mask here ( I actually had no cinnamon so I used mixed spice and it worked just as well)

Once I had them made I headed upstairs to start. I used Baby oil to remove my eye makeup, cheap as chips and removes every smidgen of mascara and eye shadow. I then use a cleansing gel on the rest of my face to remove everything else.

I jumped in the shower and washed my hair using The Alberto Balsam  Sunkissed raspberry Shampoo and Conditioner for normal hair. I am a rinse and repeat kinda girl when it comes to shampooing and to use up the conditioner at the same rate I use conditioner to shave my legs so they finish at about the same time

When it came to the body scrub I turned off the actual shower and really worked it all in. I was a bit worried about smelling like a beehive but I was fine. I have a small bit of eczema on my elbow and this didn't irritate it in the slightest.

Then I used the Baylis and Harding moonlight lavender body wash which was part of a set I actually got for a birthday and never got round to using, until now.

I got out of the shower, moisturised my face using my  Soap and Glory Feel Good Factor face moistureiser and my body using the Baylis And Harding moonlight Lavender moisturising body balm also part of the set I got for my birthday, put some TRESemme Split remedy face mask in my hair, popped on a towel turban and put on the face-mask with my fingertip. i only put a thin amount on and avoided the eye area. I kept them on for over an hour as I watched Schindlers List (Its part of the IMDB 250 list and I happened to have it on my laptop) and rinsed the masks off. I hadn't used a Hair mask in a while and after I really could see the difference, my hair gets frizzy and uncontrollable when its too dry so it was really crying out for it. My face felt a bit tight after the face mask but its so soft after it, from now on  I wont leave it on for as Long.

I think these spa nights may become a more frequent thing, not only because there is still left over mask and scrub (they keep for 30 days, and work out so much cheaper than the ones you buy in the shop)

Would you ever try a DIY beauty trick like the ones I did
